A suspect in a 2008 murder in San Angelo, Texas has been arrested in Joplin.
Authorities arrested James Owen Winchester, 43, Tuesday (11-29-11) at his home at 615 E. Hill Street on a first-degree murder warrant for the March 18, 2008 beating death of Kim Burton. Burton's daughter found her mother dead in her home after she was unable to reach her by phone.

Investigators in Texas believe she was dead for several days before she was found. According to the probable cause affidavit, DNA found on a hammer inside Burton's home that was allegedly used to kill her belong to Burton and Winchester.
Court records say Winchester allegedly admitted being inside Burton's home when she was murdered when he was interviewed by detectives on March 21, 2008.
In addition to the murder warrant, Winchester is also being held on larceny and probation violation warrants without bond in the Jasper County jail pending extradition back to Texas.
