Cary "Scott" Alexander (mug shot (GCSO)A Springfield man has been charged with raping and sodomizing a nine year-old girl.
Prosecutors charged Cary "Scott" Alexander, 38, with with statutory rape and statutory sodomy causing serious physical injury.
According to court records, the girl showed physical signs of abuse when she went to authorities in late July. She says the first time Alexander allegedly sexually abused her she was 7 or 8, and "it happened a lot."
Alexander contacted police about the allegations on July 21 and agreed to meet with investigators. When he didn't show up at the meeting, authorities went to his home and found him attempting suicide.
Alexander, who was arrested at his father's home on Friday August 6th, has pleaded not guilty and is being held in the Greene County jail on $100,000 bond.
His preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 8th.
