Taney County prosecutor Jeff Merrell says that Sperling and his girlfriend were fight on the front lawn of the residence on Iowa Colony Road when the verbal fight allegedly became physical.
The victim refered to as T.M. in court documents, made her way back inside the house to her son's room and told him, "I'm going to die, he stabbed me."
T.M.'s son feared his mothers wounds were life threatening so he drove her to a central location to meet an ambulance. T.M. was transported to Skaggs hospital then transferred to a Springfield hospital with serious injuries.
Sperling has been charged with first-degree domestic assault and armed criminal action in Taney County. He is being without bond and is due in court next Tuesday (07-07-09.)

UPDATE 07-07-09:
Sperling appeared in court today for a bond hearing which was set at half a million dollars. Merrell says he "asked for a high bond to protect the community and make sure Mr. Sperling appears in court."
If he had a knife already, sounds a bit premeditated to me
