Yeah...(*digging toe into ground in embarrassment*)

Yeah, well...I hate to get a rep for only commenting to point out errors, but the apostrophe thing is one of my all-time top pet peeves; it makes my nostrils flare and my jaws snap shut, every time. In my younger days, I also jumped up and down on people (metaphorically, of course) for grammar and spelling errors, but I've mellowed. Some, at least.

I think I said it before, but just in case...I really like your blog, and check it out every work-day. I find it much more useful than the News-Leader for following the crime-related news.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7267417044290146113.post-21147457738172619622009-10-02T13:26:52.169-05:002009-10-02T13:26:52.169-05:00I was thinking of you yesterday and knew that I wo...I was thinking of you yesterday and knew that I would hear from you.

Thanks! The apostrophe in "Lot's" in the title needs to go away.

A good rule of thumb for apostrophes is "if you cannot replace the word with "his," "her," "their" or "its" and if it isn't a contraction, then an apostrophe should not be used". (From wikiHow, here: http://www.wikihow.com/Use-Apostrophes) The "lot" in this case isn't possessing anything, and it isn't a verb being contracted.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
