A Stone County sheriff’s deputy has been charged with a second count of attempted sexual battery.

This charge stems from a woman who says that Lucian James Nevatt, 24, Nixa, allegedly attempted to sexually assault her in the same bar where another woman says he tried to sexually assault her.

On Wednesday, a second woman came forward and told authorities that Nevatt had forced her up against the wall in a bathroom and began kissing her and touching her breasts on the same night the previous woman says she was assaulted.

Nevatt, who has been employed by Stone County since May of 2007, has been placed on unpaid leave while investigation into the incident continues. He was in Georgia for his annual training with the Army Reserves.

Nevatt entered a plea of not guilty when he was arraigned in Richmond County associate court and requested a jury trial, and posted $1,300 bond. His next scheduled court appearance in July 14th.

Stone County Sheriff Richard Hill says he has notified the Peace Officers Standards and Training program in Jefferson City. P.O.S.T. is the office that issues officer certification in Missouri. They will also investigate the alleged charges against Nevatt and could possibly revoke his commission.

Hill says that Richmond County Sheriff's deputies will transfer Nevatt to the custody of the U.S. Army, which will then return him to Missouri.
